Topics discussed include typology, the issues surrounding street level and the need to meet growth needs.

Tall buildings have been a contentious subject for several years. London has been transformed from a relatively flat city to one with multiple skyscrapers cropping up every year. The need for high density development in a city with a rapidly growing population is up against a society wary of the perceived issues taller buildings have caused in the past.

The pressure is to build upward – Gary Rice

The number of tall building being approved in London is increasing rapidly, but do we have the policies in place to manage their impact on the skyline and cityscape?

I think part of the process has to be a much greater scrutiny of the design – Scott Adams

Our guests also discuss the impact of tall buildings on the streetscape; do clusters of tall buildings make people unsafe at ground level? How to can we animate the ground level of tall buildings to ensure our streets don’t become barren.
